"Singer/songwriter Johnny Nicholson reflects a deep and diverse talent. Unafraid to venture into new territory, he's lived in California, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Europe. Nicholson's motley of adventurous explorations in geography is paralleled with his musical styles. He can play it all, from pop folk, to reggae, to smooth lullabies, to rock. Ultimately, Nicholson is an artist you would take with you to celebrate, to ponder, and to live."
(Lauren Proctor - Northeast Indie In-Tune)

Born in Geyserville, CA, Johnny picked up the violin at age five and the guitar at age seven. He also plays banjo and mandolin. He has been writing, recording, and performing for the better part of his life.

Johnny is now at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he found a fitting new group: Nathan Reich (Guitar), Dylan Coleman (Upright Bass), and Joey Lefitz (Drums). Johnny works and performs with fellow songwriters Nathan Reich and Jordan Tarrant in an acoustic writer’s trio where they play and support each other’s material. Johnny also writes, records, and performs with composer and guitarist, Mathew Atticus Berger.

Johnny founded Monkey Rock in 2006. Monkey Rock is a community comprised of artists and friends who support each other by promoting and performing as a group. Monkey Rock hosts a weekly ‘Writer’s Circle’ at All Asia (332 Mass. Ave, Cambridge, MA) from 6-9pm on Wednesdays where members and friends of the Monkey Rock and Berklee communities come to listen and play.

Johnny is currently working on recordings for a five song solo acoustic EP and a five song full-band EP. He is performing frequently throughout New England and has planned a tour of Southern California with The Anna Troy Band and Nathan Reich at the start of the New Year, 2008.
